jagd terriers

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has worked those jagd terriers that the american lads talk about in the UK.I know they are on the tall side but ive seen plenty of leggy russels and lakeys being worked so that shouldnt make that much difference. The book that ive got [ just a little breed book ] says they can be a bit hot headed but with the right sort of work they should be happy.

Good terriers those german jagds. In belgium germany and the rest of europe, they are most used. hard allrounders, fast and clever.

If I where you, take a look on the continent, especially Tsjechie and Hungary.

95% of the terriers hunted here in italy are jagd terriers all of my hunting mates work them, they are really good dogs, sometime a bit too hard. I'think their hunting stile is similar to your black dogs cos they were breed from black fells.

i had one of those, german hunt terrier. i had to put her down due to the fact that she developed bad skin problems,on the vets advise. she was only young so she never really got started but she was coming along well. she was fiery as fcuk loved a scrap. she and an other bitch of mine had a real hatred for each other, if they took to fighting even a while after i stopped them the german would still be trying to start again like she held a grudge. as long as she was hunting though she was fine. she wasn't any bigger than a lakey or jacker. i'll probably get an other one in the future. i bought mine from a lad in the mid lands of ireland, they had been brought over by a german who moved there.

jrearthdog has a dog & bitch, both youngsters. bitch worked a fox (or maybe 2) at end of last season and did fine. Don't think the dog has seen owt, will be ready this season. Dog is very big for my taste, at least 17 inches maybe more. Think jr's computer is down at the moment, he could tell you more than I can.

17inches? it s too much, bitches here are 36cm and dogs not more than 16, if they re, they wont be use in breeding, it s the rule of JGTclub also they have too prove they quality, noisy on animal trails, and push out the fox from artificial den or grab her neck. 15y back they have too prove theirself on badger. normal dogs is 39cm bitch 36cm average price 60pounds for pup.

Sixty pounds for a pup dosnt sound to bad considering you can pay 150 for most terriers in the uk and you dont know if they are going to make the grade. For me to get a pup id have to find out how to go about getting one imported but were would you start
