howard 0
Shows just wondering why people take them so seriously , if I go to a show which is pretty rarely it is to meet up with old pals and have a pint and a laugh . If showing is realy such a big thing why not go the whole hog and go to crufts, please, please , please dont bull shit me with good show dogs make good workers Ime to long in the tooth to be taken in by that crap. The numbers of quality working terriers is in serious decline and 99% of the blame can be left at the entrance of the show ring.Borders ,Red Lakelands and then Lakelans in general all ruined by show stock .Now nightmare of all nightmares blacks are starting to win so called working terrier shows how long till they are ruined by the show bug. Having an entered class is as much a travesty as all the other classes the only qualified judge for the entered class has a red coat bushy tail and a taste for chicken lol. I have a couple of mates to meet at the EDRD show and am looking forward to having a good time see you all there and try not to take it to seriously. Quote Link to post

OldNog 432
I go to the local hunt shows in the summer becuase they are a good day out and is nice to chat to other dog blokes. I do show mine but she will only ever get a second....first if we are very lucky but never won anything proper. My bitch has only finished her first season and hopefully got alot more work coming this season. What i hate is the so dog men turning up with vans full of terriers...enough that they can eneter pretty much every class. It seems a massive coincedence to me that they should have a dog for every class. The border class is alwasy the worst down here for the show ponys. Terriers standing perfectly still waiting for a small bit iof biscuit. Mine stands however she feels like, not uncommon for her to think bollcocks to it im sitting down haha Its sad really Quote Link to post

earthpig 0
I am not a show goer but i think they are a chance to see and meet other dog men as long as you and others keep the genuine workers dont worry what the trophy hunters with their non working dogs do The judges of these shows need to start picking the workers we know what they look like so should they? when they start getting picked over the pristine non working type the jerks and they dogs will stop going eventualy going Working terrier & lurcher shows are a good thing They need to be advertised as WORKING Its up to the real working men to create their own clubs etc and shows if your not happy with the current ones . Keep on fighting Quote Link to post
