HOW HARD DO YOU WORK EM?

Recommended Posts

With the up and coming season almost upon us, ive been traing my Bull/grey harder on the lure machine.

This got me thinking, how often and how hard do you guys run your dogs during season and how much rest are you giving them.

i kennel them all summer and throw dog food over the fence they got a big bowl for water so i dont have to go in to see them often. and what the lovely welsh weather dont wash away i scoop up and throw it over next door wall as her gardens covered in sh*t so she dont notice anyway

theres not much need of getting them fit for the season as they only get out 1 or 2 times a month but only if theres a moon as i have a clulite then back in the kennels for the summer.. this is all true but it's based on a little tw*t who lives 3 doors up oh and forgot to mention breed litter after litter of shite of shite which are only 12 months old.

i have someone two doors up!!

only his are cockers and labs, he has them kenneled in the garden, i have never seen him walk a dog, during season he'll take it in the car to a very nearby feild do a tad of practise retrieving dummy and gunshot and thats it, their fed on shite and all bitch's are bred from every year! he was only telling me today that one of his 5 week old pups died due to dehydration and he'd seperated all pups from the dam at three weeks old!!

when he found out i kept ferrets he began giving me LOADS of "advice" which i'm happy to listen to as you can always learn more and he is older and surely more "wiser" then me, he told me that ferrets only work well if they are kept in small dark and damp places as it makes them more eager to work! you'll be pleased to know i smilled sweetly and told him to f**k off out me garden!!

regarding feeding tis the same, one big bucket of water and dried food checked over the fence, and the howling . .

i haven't heard dogs make the noise these dogs do until i moved here!

there seems to be a couple of these feckers about  . . like feeding ammo to the antis in my eyes

. . . calm . . rant over lol :icon_redface:

Thanks for the positive comments guys, my dog walks an 18 hole golf course every morning and every night and is on the finest diet known to me (BARF WITH MY ADDED EXTRAS).

What i meant by how hard do you run them, was meant in an athletic point of veiw.

I beleive like us humans dogs need rest as much as work and although when fit i like to be out 5 nights a week some weeks, it cant be good can it???

Im running my boy hard on the lure at the moment to get him in the best shape possable for the up and coming season (his first real season) and was wondering how often you guys run your dogs.

I see how people are different and some care for there dogs whilst others see them as mearly a tool, with little respect for them and would be happy running there dogs into the ground, but for me my dogs are my best friends

My dogs get walked in the morning for a mile, then in the evening they let rip in the field (No quarry to catch in there) they run and play for around an hour whilst i sit and have a fag.

Then it's back to the kennels for a feed and a drink, then an hour on the sofa having some fuss and playfighting. Then back into the kennels for the night.

The dogs walk into the kennels by their own, and see it as a happy place, so they are quite content. As for working, my 2 main dogs are out on the lamp once a week for a couple of hours at a time. My main bitch is now expecting her first litter so she's not allowed out now on the lamp, she goes bonkers when i take the others

I find that if the dogs are well fed, and more importantly (sounds a bit gay) loved, then they give you their all in the field. My dogs will run for me until their hearts explode, but as a concious owner i know when they start to tire and i don't let them overwork, as then i and them can't do what we love to do, and that's use them for what they were bred for.

i run my dog almost every night in the winter He only rests if he has a very hard nites lamping or he is injured. usally i keep him fit through the summer months but i havent botherd this summer. started geting him ready for winter 2 weeks ago he runs 5 miles three times a week with me on the road to help shorten his nails. I have started him on three nights a week lamping for 2 hours. he should be farely fit come september ready for a hard seasons work.

Two genuine replys, just shows how much of a joke this place is! People may think the same about me because i speak my mind but i couldnt give a f**k theres three things id never do thats be a puppy peddler,be a messer or sell a tested dog to someone saying it hasnt seen anything.

4 hours a day walking then a days rest and so on maybe a flash with the lamp, when lamping season begins its flat out day and night 4-7 days a week!
