deer/grey X Collie

Recommended Posts

I have a deerhound x greyhound, he is knocking on a bit now, and i think this could be his last season.

In the near future, im thinking of putting him over a full collie bitch. Has anybody worked a X of this type, and how do you rate them for nighttime work?

Cheers

i bought a deerhound/greyhound/collie/greyhound from some irish boys when we used to course reading way about 10 yrs ago his name was "mick" and at the time very well known.

he looked like a dirty shaggy carpet that was always asleep, when he was out he was a different dog.

there was nothing he would'nt bring down or kill, if the lamp went on it- it went down !!!

he was well mannered and very trust worthy and as bright as they come.

i have a red and white bitch deerhound/grayhound bull/grayhound and shes looking ok so far, i dont touch them till there a yr old so only just started.

I have a Grey/Deer/Collie X Grey/Collie/Whippet. Who is coming on really well. He will be 2 yrs at the start of this season. Very alert and keen as anything. Still a little immature but he is getting there. Here are a couple of pics.

This was his first catch at around 8 months and brought it back live to hand :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:

Beautiful dog there Dekaw. I've recently put my beardie/grey over my deer/grey - if I get something that looks anything like your dog I'll be very happy indeed :)

i thought more of you than that rabbit boy. :D you taken up rustling?

id be tempted to go for a half x collie grey, or even a nice little collie/whippet/bull ;):D;)

tis your dog, your choice etc but if i was breeding from this dog i'd want more sighthound in, a friend of mine bred his deerhound/greyhound/collie bitch to a languna whippet and the pups took a little longer to mature due to the deerhound part but had the added speed of the whippet and slightly smaller insize

if you want a similar size to what you have them use a greyound or greyhound cross . .

anyway best of luck in what ever you decide to do

all the best lurcher lass x x x

I originally thought of the half x collie grey ;)

Collie/whippet/bull  if i decide to go ahead with the breeding, then there will be no bull added ;)
