bird 9,965
go for just one i say imo, if one does a good thing yeah the other will, but the same as a bad thing the other will copy, i just think you can put alot more ito the one best of luck what ever you do Yep, with any working dog, you want it to bond to you. And when they [sleep, eat, plaly together] 24/7 they will start to bond to each other, and not you. I had 2 Bryn+brother, and thats what started to happen. So i sold his brother, and Bryn changed from that day. He as bonded 100% to me, i know people keep 2 pups on, and it might work. But it is 100 times [easier] with one. Quote Link to post
awen 29
the problem ive got is the pup ive just purchased is a little cracker exact breeding i was lookin for and bred to do the job i wanted. the breeder has just put the sire over the dams sister. i love the look and ability of his dogs and know this maybe the last chance [short term] to get another? seeing as they will be as good as siblings i thought they maybe have a greater bond whilst working or atleast therell be a better chance of it. i know looking at it i should probably wait another 6 months that will bring my pup to a year old, but if i do decide to go with these pups due then it will mean my pup will only be 6 months old when the new addition arrives. i know ive got the time and energy for it trouble is i always rush into things without thinking about them hard enough, thanks for all your comments and advice it surely is making my decision harder lol Quote Link to post

Sully 3
still think 1 til fully trained, what happens when you come to take one of the 2 out for a spot of lets say re-call training, hows the other pup which is left in the kennels gonna feel, I did loads of research on this myself and I decided on 1 til training completed, then use the elder dog to help train the pup, thats my idea anyways Quote Link to post
Cheshire Poacher 6
1is the magic number mate get it up and running to a good standard i wil take 2 to 3 years and then buy your self a pup to bring on. you will put more time in to 1 pup it will pick things up quiker because you will be running 1 pup on and not the 2 plus you will probley find you faver one off the pups so 1 will suffer [working wise] because you think 1 pup is doing better than the other ok mate Quote Link to post

Catcher 1 639
Wanted to know your opinions on getting 2 pups at the same time, or should you get one and put all your effort into it before even thinking about another. i thought that if you had 2 at a similar age they would learn off each other and become a better working team as time goes on. am i talking bollox or not. have you brought many pups on in the past if not go for just 1 you want the best out of your dog then 2 pups will take up alot of time because for you will struggle early on with pups out together they will just piss about Good advice agree Catcher 1 Quote Link to post
