hi folks

i was with my freind before shooting a rapid 7 mk1 in which he has just purchased 2nd hand last week.

The gun was shooting perfect then all of a sudden we just heard a large psssss and there was air leaking out ov the end of the barrell , he then took the bottle off the rapid and air was coming out at a fast pace ,can any of you explain why this has happened?,is it common and mostly how can it be fixed any advice would be much appreciated

thanks for your time lads

Sounds like a main valve stuck open or a blown seal, take to a good Gunsmith or send back to Theoben Ltd West NewlandsSomersham Cambridgeshire PE28 3EB, email sales@theoben.co.uk or www.theoben.co.uk tel 01487 740744

They will charge £59.50 for full service & repair, if it is an FAC you will have to take in Face to Face or via RFD.

Atb, foxon.

the bottle seal is just an 'o' ring which is easily replaced

if there was air coming out of the barrel i think the main valve seals may have gone which is a bigger job , but quite straight forward if you know what your'e doing.

cheers

theres a ball bearing valve in the end of the buddy bottle, sometimes it gets stuck or doesnt seat right, it's no problem unles you store the bottle off the gun... but even when you fill the bit thast you can hear often amounts to a couple of shots worth, on mine i;ve filled, put it on the gun then removed it to fill and see the presure loss(so ywo lots of loss) an dthe presure gauge didnt registure it....(unles of course its stuck wide open...)

the seals are a very easy replacement job, but what a lot of folk do is choose to ignore one very simple bit of advice..................correct lubrication of the said items, if that is what is wrong.

have a look on here, http://www.theoben.co.uk/pages.php?pageid=7 if you're not comfortable delving into the giblets of your rifle, get it sent back to Theoben :)
