Geoff.C 0
Reported last night in the local evening paper, a 63 year old man was fined 200 pounds and 75 pounds costs, for failing to comply with the conditions of his shot gun license. The gun was not safely secured on March 15TH. There is no detail about this, or how the police? caught him out, but it may be a wake up call to anyone who is not too conscientious about locking away his guns. Don't get careless lads. The use a stolen gun could be put to, doesn't bear thinking about. Quote Link to post
elvolcan 0
And I assume he lost his SGC as well . The use a stolen gun could be put to, doesn't bear thinking about. Very True. Quote Link to post
bobndog 0
That's harsh if it was a first offence. Essex Police have issued warnings when this has occurred, I know of one person that has had two warnings because his shotgun was not in the cabinet when the police called unexpectedly. The second time they called was with the sole purpose of checking whether it was in the cabinet. On both occassions he had been shooting and the gun was waiting to be cleaned. He received a written warning from the County Firearms office on both occassions. It makes you wonder if there was more to this case, or are the police always this hard on gun owners in your area? leadpig 0
i thought the gun did not have to be locked up as long as you are in the house Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
i thought the gun did not have to be locked up as long as you are in the house I think that must be case, even in the eyes of the coppers. It would be crazy to say otherwise - you are there supervising it, what about cleaning and leaving solvents to soak?! They even say "Do not let this soak into action" - sometimes you have to leave them for a long period of time to clean out really stubborn copper fouling - surely an element of common sense is required here?!
