Locators

Recommended Posts

Now that i am getting the team in place i realise i need to get a locator, quetions are:

1 - Do i buy new or second hand?

2 - If second hand MK1 or MK3?

3 - One or two collars?

Any advice welcome thanks

depends on your budget , preference for mk1 or mk3 is up to yourself, i been used to the old mk1 knocker box, have bought new mk3 still getting used to it, how many collars depends on how many ferrets you have/want collars on, some dont bother, some get 1 collar for 2 ferrets & work the uncollared one, if lay up send second ferret in with collar on to get a location, regards john

if you can afford it get a brand new mk3m, i have one and it is the best bit of kit i have ever brought, best to have new as you get a garentee with it. as for the amount of collars i would get 2, its not very often i use more than 2 ferrets at a time. if you do need more after that you can buy them secondhand for around £40.

Second hand ferret locating gear is nearly as expensive as new..so unless your buying off someone you know you may be better off ...if you can afford it.. to buy new and get a guarantee..I have been scouting all websites looking for reasonable priced stuff and I am srtruggling.

You are definately better off with 2 collars

Id go with a mk3

as for collars, start with one and build up to more as money becomes available, I started with two collars, as I just worked a team of two, now have four collars, now use 3 jills and a big hob

I think you will be cheaper setting your self up with a new mk3 mate the guys that have mk1's dont want to sell them as there getting like rocking horse sh*t to find now .

I go for a collar for every ferret you take out ,that way no messing about with collars at the burrow and if there on all day the shouldn't slip of as they might if you chopping and changing them at every burrow

But the big thing is the cost only you will know how deep your pocket is and what you want to spend ?
