rosspti 2
It would be awesome to attach an infra red camera to a ferret and get a live, ferret's eye view of what's going on down there! Quote Link to post

rosspti 2
A big thank you to Simon Whitehead of Pakefield Ferrets for taking the time to read my Email, and get back to me, about my Listening Stick idea. -----Original Message----- From: Simon Whitehead <simon@pakefieldferrets.wanadoo.co.uk> To: rosspti@aol.co.uk Sent: Sun, 2 Aug 2009 21:05 Subject: RE: Listening Sticks - Did I have a good idea or has anyone beat me to it? Good evening Ross, Thank you for sending me this message as I am curious about using such painful looking apparatus. Many years ago I knew some one who used a doctor’s stethoscope, and lately I have been talking to the old men who listened to their grafts. I suppose it is the same principle but I am going to give one a try this winter, if nothing more for the comedy value. I will get one for this season and give it a go, I will let you know how it turns out. Although strange to look at, it could be great for filming, getting the sounds from underneath the earth on film for our imaginations to decide what it going on. I am glad you liked the book and I will get back to you once I have had a play with this instrument. Yours in sport simon Quote Link to post
Cornio 0
Sounds like a version of the old 'screwdriver to crankcase' trick for identifying unhelpful noises from an engine Yep, I've done that a few times, listening to bearing cases on machinery to check for defects. I can't see it working on soft ground though, but it may well do on hard or frosty ground. Quote Link to post
