novice 25
Hi all. I'm hoping you guys can answer a question that has been put to me, for which I admit I have no definitive answer I've been asked whether it is legal to use a hawk/falcon in a scaring role to move on a colony of starlings. It's my understanding that starlings are now a protected species in England and Wales, but I'm not sure if this extends to flying a bird against them. Cheers Novice Quote Link to post

Cheers Novice The Starling is a protected species in England and is protected under the wildlife and countryside act 1981. Which makes it illegal to catch, injure or kill them. It is still under general lisence in Scotland and Wales. I would check with DEFRA if you are in any doubt? Hope this helps? Quote Link to post
