He's got just over £150 now, he's 14 and quite grown up for his age. Anyway i said i would ring around and help him try to find one, most adds say NO TIMEWASTERS, Do these people think that by being rude to people and cutting them short that we would buy a pup off them. No time wasters!!! surly the lad has a right to no the breeding of the dog etc etc, i have phoned around today a couple of people and all i can say is these people give lurcher owners a bad name. This has realy p#ssed me off to be honest with you. People deserve to get stuck with litters by the way they answer their phones. After all WE are trying to buy something off them. YOUR THOUGHTS!!! Also they will want to make sure the animal is heading to a good home, and talking and being friendly is the only way this will happen. If you are getting a hard time it suggests that the dogs future life isn't foremost in the sellers mind, also expecting you to take their word that the dog is from good stuff, without any information is a bit strange. Like selling a car with no history to it. On the other hand, proper dog men with good pups to sell could be inundated with plonkers who are obviously not the best home for their pups, but communication on both parts clear that up quick enough. Either way it isn't wrong to expect basic civility at the very least when ringing about an item for sale. Would it be worth your while looking about for a planned litter? gnasher16 30,217 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share Posted July 29, 2009 In my opinion the no timewasters thing really means " if your not going to hand money over for a pup dont phone me " A few years back i was thinking of buying a dog of a breed i had no experience of so i phoned a breeder with a good reputation and was on the phone literally hours,every few days i was phoning asking his opinions and he couldnt have been more helpful......i never did buy a dog from him as i changed my mind but we still speak and i would consider him a friend to this day. A genuine breeder will WANT to talk dogs not just to impress you or sell a dog but simply because he enjoys talking dogs. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

If any body rings about my pups im only to happy to talk dogs to them. my misses tells me i could talk a glass eye to sleep when it comes to lurchers and terriers. rickyspringer 15 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share Posted July 29, 2009 I agree, if you have a real good chat you know where you stand, you know the pup has been looked after and you know the dog is going to a good knowledgable home, I talk for too long about dogs and the missus really hates it, personally on my part, if the remaining pups have gone I always help out the prospective buyer and point them in the right direction, I hate the thought of someone lining puppy farmers pockets and so on. I had loads of time wasters when selling my pups and it dose your head in... Talking on the phone for ages and then no show.. or nosey folk just wanting to look at pups... By answering the phone with a "yeh" or "what do you want" doesnt realy go down too well to be fair. I had a bloke tell me he was two streets away and never showed.
