Chicken killer

Recommended Posts

Went down to my birds yesterday morning and was greeted by a site all poultry keepers dread  I had been visited by a fox during the early hours and he had helped himself to a dozen of my stags. At first i thought it had been the work of more than one because i only found one body left in a pen. But as the day went on i found ones and twos here and there hidden for collection later. Knowing it would be back i dropped a few wires on some likely looking runs and was back at first light this morning to check on them.

Don't like killing them this time of year and i won't go looking for them but these ones come to me and give me no choice. I set the wires this time woodga but Marcus isn't bad at dropping one ;) A dozen might not sound many mate but it probably represents 40 or 50 chicks hatched as these were the final cut

Agree killing cubs is a waste, but when there a problem, it needs doing.. They just cause hassle with the chucks don't they, they've been at it all over, can't blame them, chickens well tasty, beats a bin bag... :icon_eek:
