Buying stuff from the states

I was told by customs recently that VAT was 6.5% plus import duty.

i bought gear meself last year and never paid anymore then the stated price on checking out on line stuff is top quality just be weary of sizes still trying to fill the sleeves of my jacket

beware of fake kit , bought a pair of elk trackers of ebay . correct pic rip off boots arrived . but of all the kit ive had from the us , overall you get more choice , the gear is better quality and cheaper even if you do get stung on the tax.

I'm thinking of buying some stuff from cabelas this week. I understand that the shipping is 45% of the overall value of the items.

 

Can anyone shed any light on how long it takes for items to come (my biggest item would be chestwaders).

 

Also how nice are the customs people - what are the percentages on that sort of stuff?

Hi ive been told you need to get things sent over has a gift so you dont pay tax

tried that gift one,, there on to it ...
