i owned a Ferari once, never got out of first gear, never went over 30 in it, couldnt see the point, so i never found out if it was fast or if it could corner well, or last for a few miles, as before it got warmed up i took it home as i thought i could just take it for a spin tomorrow and do the same. When i look back i just wasted that car, and it would have been better suited to someone who would have put it through its paces, as that is what it was built for.

at 30mph u are safe, any mishaps and u can stop,, at 130mph u are asking for trouble and eventually ur luck will run out,, it all ends in disaster. at the finish u have no car and all that work, time and money to have a car like that is pissed down the drain,,,, catch my point?? everyone knows theyre own dog and catching the biggest bag u can get for no reason is a bit of a waste, how many put wat they catch to good use?? i'd love to catch the tossers that were are going about my way, in the middle of summer, with a rifle!! everything was slaughtered and left lie where it fell. the indians never hunted more than they needed. it was the white folk that turned everything on its ass.

The post wasnt meant to read about the speed, it was more about the amount of work, are lurchers not breed to be tested? how do you know what tested is unless you push them ? and when i mean push , if 20 is your dog giving everything then thats fine but if its capable of 100, does it not deserve the chance to do it? and the only way to find out is to give the dog the chance, i know its not everyones idea of how to work a dog as there are in my mind generaly two diferent types of lurcher lad, ones who love having dogs and potter around with them just enjoying them and their nights out, and then there is the others who test the dog to the hilt every time , time and time again, you are right , it is dangerous and many fall by the wayside, but if yours doesnt that is the one you breed from, as it has proved itself a good un, i dont know how else you test a lamping dog, can you honestly breed or buy a pup out of dogs that have never been pushed ?,(doesnt that leave you at mr Hs door or any other for profit breeder?) how do you know what you are breeding or buying from, it could have underlying problems that wouldnt show until tested( this is not a dig at anyone or how they lamp or whatever, it is straightforward questions as there is room for all sorts in this game and there are many grey areas its not all black and white, )

As for shooting and leaving i couldnt agree with you more as i have seen it round my way on my ground aswell, and i hate it, i cant see the point, killing for killings sake, unbelievable and i hope you catch the buggers .As for big bags they are easily taken to the gamedeallers or minced and frozen down for your own dogs,

Here's my best night... .. but i would put good money on it that this dog could catch easily in excess of 70 bunnies in one night on the right ground and right weather condition's.. ;) .

Superstroker your entitled to your opinion, I dont feel the need to prove anything to anyone, I know what Ive got in my kennel and what they are capable of. I dont need to catch huge bags to enjoy what I do with my dogs, Im not interested in your schoolboy "challenges" either :11: you obviously didnt read what I wrote Im not into whos got the best dog out of you and me, Im not interested in what dogs youve got or how good or bad they are, Im only interested in what Ive got and going about my business quietly and discreetly. Loose lips sink ships, you might want to remember that the next time the antis come on here nicking pics and saying were all a bunch of bloodthirsty evil b*****ds, I sure as hell dont want my pics used in that way. if you want to call it excuses and call me a wanker thats up to you Superstroker :yahoo: :11:

if you went about your business quitely and discreetly why come on here say you got good dogs and backout of a challenge ,KEYBOARD WARRIOR COMES TO MIND you always seem to have something to say about the minshaw strain !!when you no nothing about this breed, you were the one who mentioned my dogs better than your dog crack and when asked to prove this you backed out thats fair enough but if your going to talk the talk you should learn to walk the walk or just keep quite

At it again superstricker  , I take it as your so willing to PM every one with lamping challenges, you will be in the lamping comp or will your dog also be just coming in season, to old and what was the other one? O yes, cant remember if its had its jabs.

Come on lets see one of these super dogs that you've been boasting about in the comp. I see pups off theses so called super dogs are going for over £ 300 pounds :icon_eek: amazing what a few pictures will do. :11: :11:

:11: :11: Work isnt a excuse for all of us mate , some people have more pride than to scrounge of the state for all the have , To f****n right theres enough parasites in this country as it is .

Calm down now Andy,.calm fecking down..you'll have a corona... :yahoo: :11:

All this 'competitiveness' just brings out the worst in folk...

Anyone with half a brain can spot a good sort of dog, and a genuine hunting man from a block away :)

Lads that have walked the walk, have nothing to prove to anyone,...

Personally,.if a guy tells me he has killed a big pile of rabbits,etc,...I don't disbelieve him,..I KNOW what is possible with the aid of a quality running dog,..and I'm honestly pleased for the fellah,..but never jealous ;)

I've had my good dogs,..and no doubt my best days,...but I'm still mad for it...

Let's not fall out over silly poxy rabbits and hares,..coz believe me,.life really is too short.....

All the best,.and roll on the season.... :clapper::clapper:

wise words :good:

well i hope you do enter the compition superstriker as i think sombody needs to represent the minshaw strain, and like andy said his is probly a little bit to old.

dont wory about the ground being to hard as its not going to start till october. and whoever you get drawn against you can sort out between the 2 of you when to run.

for example if its a full moon or there has been a frost you can leav it a few days.

so come on get your name down, i would refaree( love to see one of your minshaws run) unlees im drawn against you :)

Just for the record (or should i say for Mush),today i now have two bitches in season,a Jack Russell belonging to harehunter and my eldest sons Bedlington x,so this is as i was saying the reason i will have nothing to run in the hunting life competition,of my 2 Minshaw dogs i currently have one is 11 in September and has been retired for 3 years due to injury and Jack is 10 next June and as he will be retired at the end of the season, i think he has had his best days, the Beddy x will be around 11 weeks into her cycle when the competetion gets underway and as any dog man will know this is the time when a bitch should be pupping,it wouldn't be fair to run her at this time and obviously she would not be in peak fitness at this time due to not running.I know superstriker has 1/2 Minshaw bred adult dogs but one is also a veteran and his youngster is 16 month old and is ready for schooling in the next month or so,imo he did the right thing by not running the pup last season as he was a big leggy not fully developed dog and at the end of last season he was only 11 month old and as he is not a summertime hunter his dog will only begin his career from September,so i don't think he either will have anything to run.Tomo if your desperate to see a Minshaw dog running mate then the offer is open to come and have a night out with mine this winter(freehand hunting) :11: .As for Mush my offer is still open to you ,bring your 2 Bull x's and your Saluki.....don't forget the shovel, you'll need it.

Andy I must say i do enjoy reading you're post's .

I dont have any lurchers myself but i do go out reguarly with freinds who do, we dont get big bags just a couple of hares and a few rabbits. we take the odd bit of bigger stuff too.

you goin to the lowther show near penrith this weekend |?

cheers Ricky
