Im in the same boat as you mate, my bitch, Lexy is 14 Wks on Sunday, you'll pick some great tips up from Dave Sleight (Purdys Progress), I have, Lexys re-call, sit stay and retrieve is coming on really well. dont get me wrong...theres times when I think we ve cracked it, then things go tiss up ! all part and parce of the dog maturing, I was given some fantastic advice but by a country mile this was the best advice, given to me by Hannah, give your pup lots of cuddles and show it loads of affection, the bond you forge now will be there forever, and she'll run through walls for you when she's older,

keep us informed on his / her progress

Another slight problem I'm having is with car sickness. I put her in a cage in the boot of a hatchback and any journey over about a mile and she throws up. I've been taking her for five minutes and then giving her a quick walk, but it doesn't seem to be helping for the longer journeys to the vet etc. I doubt there is a magic solution to this and I just have to be patient, but has anyone got any tips? Ta.

Try a ginger biscuit or 2 depending on her size, half an hour before you go in the car (keep to the short journey to start). It has worked for some dogs I know of and not for others, but worth a try :)

Somebody else told me about ginger helping motion sickness. Will give it a go. Thanks.

Relatively few dogs suffer from genuine motion sickness, and most that are car sick are sick because they're stressed. Feeding the dog in the stationary vehicle (not just before a walk!), sitting in the switched on motor with the dog, read a book or whatever for 20 minutes or so, will help to reassure the dog that nothing nasty is going to happen.

Very short trips of less than 5 minutes to begin with: once round the block or whatever: always end the trip with something nice: a titbit, a play with a toy etc.

Might help ya ;)

Concise and bloody useful. Thanks. You are right about tehe retrieve. Mine just seemed to pick it up on her own (lets just hope she keeps doing it). Interestingly, I have a few things that I throw for her but she -by far- perfers a small dummy half covered in rabbit skin. In fact, she's mad for it.
