jon15 14
I have read several threads on here saying how they have seen bucks chasing and have called bucks in, i have been out twice in the last five days, once in Wiltshire and last night in Hampshire, in Wilts i stalked three does two had kids one was alone and settled and waited expecting a buck to appear, but on all three nothing. I did the same last night, stalked three different does and waited for around 20 mins on each animal, but again saw no sign of a buck with any of them, am i doing something wrong? Or just being unlucky, or has the rut not started in some places? On both occasions i have started stalking at around 7.30pm and finished at last light. Look forward to your views. Thanks John, spoke to a friend today who stalks on Salisbury plain, he said that he has not seen much in the way of the rut, and all the guys in the army who stalk the plain have also said the same thing, i will be out later in the week and so will see what happens then. flytie 1
I have been out this morning to a couple of small bits of land that I have permission on and only saw does, not a buck to be seen. Out twice last week and found just the same. Lots of females no males. I will ask round tonight and see what everyone else is saying in the area. Here in the south of Worcestershire there has been little or no harvesting yet, we seem to be enjoying our normal monsoon season which I believe used to be called July. ft Quote Link to post

gsmith 0
Generally the rut has started but it is 100% not in full swing probably due to weather changing constantly. Tonight i witnessed a young buck right up behind a doe following her every move. I also shot two bucks both with attending does, calling has produced a few yearlings also. another week or so i think your find it is well away we just need a few days of constant warmth. mr prior belives 20th july -13th aug is rutting time for the roe.
