fin and fur 2
hi has anyone got a copy on dvd of clarisa and the countryman as i have looked everywhere to obtain a copy but not avaliable anywhere. Jasper Hi as i understood things the unbiased/biased BBC refused to comission a subsequent series of Clarissa and the Countryman following complaints from anti's. They also refused to allow copyright of the previous series to pass to either Clarissa Dickson Wright or Johnny Scott, so the BBC still held copyright and are reluctant to engage in anything that may upset the antis such as making the series available on DVD for instance. Whether copyright is still now with the BBC of has passed to someone else who could make the series available on DVD is something i am not sure of. The antis would phone in to the BBC at the end of every episode (regardless of that episodes content) complaining of acts of animal cruelty. if there was ever any need to prove this was an orchestrated campaign without content, and without any anti actually having watched the programmes then the famous episode on mushroom gathering was a prime example, yep no hunting whatsoever in that episode yet the BBC where unindated with phone calls from irate antis complaining about the episodes animal cruelty content. and still the BBC adopt an anti bloodsports mentality unbelieveable Edited July 28, 2009 by fin and fur
MrsChamp606 553
I did not know that about the antis and complaints what a shame I also really enjoyed watching that
j-a-s-p-e-r 0
i think its a big shame we are supposed to be a free nation, unless you hunt shoot fish all sports that have kept the countryside so unchanged for hundreds of years, I know of area where years ago they thrived with wildlife when they were gamekept now you are lucky to see an odd rabbit. the gouvernment has a lot to answer for. True indeed, and as i say the impartiality of easily led organisations like the theoretically unbiased BBC does not help matters.

fin and fur 2
Try Amazon.com, they have quite a lot of DVD's others are scared to stock Thanks for that, thats brilliant news. I know that a few years back the BBC wouldn't make the material available to either Clarissa Dickson Wright or Johnny Scott and that Clarissa cited this decision as one of the reasons as to why she filed for bankrupcy at the time, it would be nice to think that copyright has finally passed to Clarissa and Johnny and that they are getting a fair buck for their efforts. many thanks Stealthy1

WILF 46,549
Clarissa is a top old girl, we saw her last Wednesday mooching about looking at the hounds and looking well. Chatted to her before and she was very good to talk too.......chatting with my girls and such like. This country could do with a few more of that breeding Edited July 29, 2009 by WILF
