flint67 2
i grew up in the 70s in a little seaside town. We d be up at the crack of dawn all through the holidays , id go the length of the town with my homemade go cart , racing the bin men to all the bins to get the 6p corona bottles to return . . It was a living!! Then up the beach at low tide with a garden fork and a bucket to dig bait , all the time arguing about the best way to get king rag , but we always got more lugworms than ragworm !! Id think nothing of dragging my soapbox go cart a mile and a half across town to the steepest hill ,just to lug it all the way up then crash out of control on the way down , then drag it all the way home to patch it up again. A mile and a half in the other direction was our treehouse , the scene of many a battle with pea shooter , catapult and whippy sticks for slinging mud at each other. Adder and rat hunts were another great expedition and the most exciting days of all were when we found something dead. I can still remember where the best apple and plum trees in town were. We were outdoors every chance we got.
greatwhitehunter 47
Those days aren't gone for all kids, my boy is nearly eight, he has a ferret, a small dog, knows his wild life (a bit), can set nets, eats almost anything, climbs trees (not for eggs), has his own knife, can use a catapult and knows how to light and tend a fire. So its not all lost there are still a few old school children. Good read old chap . no your right mate,i used to be like that! the only difference was i got slapped about when my dad found out i lit a fire im 17 now but [bANNED TEXT] ive got kids ill bring them up the same way haha good read lads!
