I have been using bought snares but there a bit too small idprefer to make my own if someone sends me a decent link for some decent snare wire ? Cheers.. Holdaway 2 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Share Posted July 27, 2009 Click on the link at the top of the site and give Northeastfieldsports a look, they do the correct size of brass wire you are looking (.457). Brass wire used for snares does not come in 6 ply, it's your job to twist it up into snares from a single strand. All the best H Quote Link to post

camies 1 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share Posted July 29, 2009 Why does everyone use brass wire? Is it just traditional or something else? What's wrong with using 1mm stainless steel stranded wire? I was given some left over wire from making fox snares and it makes terrific rabbit snares that don't kink or tangle. It can't be that it's too strong or difficult to cut as I carry round a pair of 5" diagonal cutters in my bag 'just in case' and they work a treat. It doesn't cut into the rabbits neck so why brass all the time?? Quote Link to post
