cheers sean

:clapper: im not being a twat,im just trying to give the kid a bit of food for thought !!! and if you took the time to read thi s" KIDS" earlier posts you will see it clearly states that the ferret will be at his mum's until he goes to see her on a weekend. whats the point in having an animal if you cannot look after it .the ferret needs more than a few hours at a weekend for him to tend to its needs. thats my opinion, regardless of wether you agree or dis agree,im sure there will be others who posts on this topic that fully agree's with what i say

i agree about him not having any if he cannot tend them every day but i disagree that you have to be an expert before you get one. as long as you can provide suitable shelter, know how to feed them, keep there hutch in a sanitary condition e.t.c then you can pick the rest up as you go along. i never had a ferret up until just before i joined this site. i now have 3jills, ready for the new season. i only knew the basics with them but through experiencing things and talking to people i have learnt a lot. my ferrets where never any less healthy 9month ago than they are now. there was nothing wrong with them. they were and are cared for and fed correctly. cleaned out as they should be e.t.c

when you get your first dog do you know everything there is to know about them?.........

thought not. you learn as you go along.

there are a lot of people that mistreat there animals purely because they are dicks, not because they failed to read 300 books about them first. as long as you know the basics the rest will soon follow.

stop jumping on the band wagon people and being so harsh with begginners, its hard enough as it is................

I agree, to be honest with you huntingonline i wouldn't give one of my hobs or jills for that matter to you, no offence but i've been following some of your posts and i strongly recomend that you read up on the aspect of hunting / ferret husbandry before you get yourself in the shit ...first your asking for free stuff and then asking about ferrets and the fact that you say your mum and step dad are willing to look after the ferret whilst your in school and that you can't afford things etc . I'm not being funny but walk before you run, owning a ferret isn't cheap or a 10 minute a day thing you need to put the time and effort in to getting it used to you and vice versa..

I'm in merthyr from time to time and if your really seriously thinking about getting one come with me when the season starts and have a look at it all ... atb

Good answer hear from welshshrek mate if he is offering to show you the ropes in the winter take up his offer

Without being nasty you do need a more experiance befour getting a ferret hob or jill

And this kind gent is offering to show yer in the field so then when you read a few books you will be half

way there GOOD LUCK MATE dont look a gift horse in the mouth

I feel soory for you lad but it would be a bad situation for the ferret or any animal. Maybe you could get to know some one local to you who would be willing to take you out working, most ferreters would be glad of someone younger than themselves to jump into hedges and ditches to grab difficult rabbits.

Good luck and don't lose intrest for feck sake.
