Kay 3,709
get one out while there asleep & simply shut the door or if there both awake put one in a carry box for a few mins , do they get to comeout of the cage & explore Other possibility is add a run to the cage you have Quote Link to post
Guest shadowz
Please dont seperate them - ferrets are social animals and enjoy each others company ( especially kits ) Do they get to come out of the cage and run around ? Quote Link to post
CAMO 0
yes i put them on the floor of my shed and leave them explore,,but they seem harder to handle after this trying to nip me if i try to pick them up Quote Link to post

Prince_Jimmy 0
just grab em both at the same time>? Quote Link to post
kristian 9
usually let mine out in the garage on the floor as they can't escape, but moved my kits up to my garden so i can spend more time handling them. (big ferrets will be coming to join them soon). Was in the garden with them earlier as i let them run loose for a while to explore while i take it turns to handle them and one of them escaped up onto the mountain and was gone for over an hour i thought she'd gone for good but after a bit of calling (and praying) out of the brambles she strolls i keep my 2 kits together then my 2 grown hobs together but i have had to seperate them a few times as it's like brokeback mountain in their hutch  Quote Link to post
dj.chapman 0
i got 5 jills in a double hutch and a large run, trying to get them out 1 at a time is hell but you will get use to it. as for the nipping they will soon stop nipping hard and it will turn to a more playful nip that does not hurt at all, just stick with it and it will come to you, it just takes time. by the way dont seperate them, you would not like to be kept on your own and the ferrets dont either. good luck mate Quote Link to post
ferreting1888 7
kay is spot on. they want to play so roll them about and throw them about (in a good manner obv lol) and they will grab you but wont siink those nice nashers lol. great fun for you and them. i must admit i love it when they want to carry on it shows you they are happy with you. cheers sean Quote Link to post
The one 8,483
Ive got top opening huts and if i go away and somebodies looking after my ferrets i put a sheet of wire under the lid i knocked some small staple's three quarters of the way in and put the sheet of mesh over the top of them and then slide a nail threw the top of the staple .It just stops them scrambling out for anybody thats not used to them .
