scottishlass 57
Well its sometimes the poachers that spoil it for the rest of us, My dad is an easy going guy dont mind people having a mooch as long as they have ok,ed it with him , well that was till 2 folk with lurchers and terriers right before lambing time were marching about the land (hill cows had started calveing). Now if anyone asks its a firm no you cant come on. I have managed to talk him round a and let a couple of my mates on but thats all now.
herdwick 52
I'm a grumpy land owner/farmer. Over the years I have been shot at, had cows shot at (1 cow lost her eye to some little shit with an airgun) had machinery vandalised and pushed into the river, fences broken down and livestock let out, yobs on motor bikes ride amongst livestock and through standing corn and had sheep and cattle worried by dogs. Is it any wonder when people come round asking if they can run their dogs they get short shrift? People seem to think they have a god given right to go wherever they think they will because its a field. Well, all fields belong to someone, and some have to work bloody hard to make a living from them. Perhaps, if some would be hunters offered to help farmers at busy times, farmers might be more prepared to allow access to their ground. jac 12
I don't mind that she did not give me permission, what I do mind is her being rude, I don't care how many have asked before. No need to be rude
othickman 6
you need to check the law out mate, that was revoked last year.... Yeah, why was that? I don't understand why they would have revoked it: it was one of the more sensible acts that I've heard of coming from the british government over the years...

Sorley x 32
Farmers get INUNDATED with requests. Dogs generally cause problems to farmers, trained ones are in the minority. Plus most people treat the land and owners like shit. You need to prove yourself. Take your time, never approach with a dog. Start off with less and go for more. It has taken me four years to get the dog on some of my permission, worth it though.
Sorley x 32
I always keep my dog on a harness and long line, only releasing her at the moment..... Surprised at this and also surprised that no one else has picked up on it. I think most hunters have more respect for land than the farmers give then credit for I think it is not the 'most' that farmers worry about it is the minority of useless fecking idiots . How does a farmer tell the difference if someone just approaches out of blue and asks??? Better safe than sorry. If the majority of us really put our minds to it we'd start a union of hunters that vetted and monitered it members so that a land owners would know that if they allowed one of the union on their land all would be well. But that ain't ever going to happen
