dso88 15
is there a shampoo i can use to wash my ferrets with cheers Quote Link to post
fergie 0
Yes they do make different ferret shampoos which you can buy from pet shops Quote Link to post
John-B 4
I wouldn't wash a ferret regardless of whether there is a shampoo on the market or not or under the orders of a vet, my ferrets clean themselves in the nice clean pine smelling shavings and hay, they love a good scrat about... AL BUNDY 45
is there a shampoo i can use to wash my ferrets with cheers [/use the same stuff you wash your knickers in you pansy Quote Link to post
Malt 379
I wouldn't bother mate, they'll only smell even worse a few days later. Just put a greater depth of shavings in, they'll root around in it and clean themselves that way. Quote Link to post
aston_shooter 0
Yeah, you can get one called 'Ferretsheen' (I sh*t you not), and it's scented with Aloe Vera and Cucumber!!! Proper pansy tackle! I wouldn't bother washing them, or at least not often. If you wash them regularly it washes all the oils out of their coats and they can get skin problems, and when you wash them they tend to over compensate and smell worse anyway. Leave em stinky, it's the way they're meant to be Quote Link to post
lurcher lass 9
must say i've never washed any of mine, if its the smell your bothered about plant lavender and other nice smelling plants near the hutches and runs and wash your hands after handling them, another idea is to dedicate a an over coat to handling ferrets so that not every item of clothing you own smells of ferrets... these are ideas i have had the intention of doing some of the above but not bothered about it enough to get it done! they are meant to be smelly thats why their good at getting us free food!! Maria_ferrets 0
If you've got to wash them (if they get crap in their fur or something) use baby shampoo.. Most dog shampoo has stuff added that isn't good for em.. I wash mine every 3 or 4 months with baby shampoo Quote Link to post
smokin 0
is it just me or does the smell of ferts kinda grow on you anyway? (it certainly has on one jacket i have - too much contact with an in season jill and mr studley hob!!) - the mrs aint keen, granted, but the first time she smelt the ferts was when t'jill was well overdue for a seeing to, then i brought the snipped boy in for her service - did i mention i got him in her car... as already said - if you are shapooing for smell reduction it will only be short term and be back worse - glad i read this up before i considered doing mine to make the mrs think they dont smell.. atb chris Quote Link to post
