Pastie 0
I went out last night about 9 oclock with my friends lurcher and the gun. It was just a reccy for a weekends ferreting plus give the dog a run and maybe take a couple of shots. There is a black rabbit on my permission that I normally leave alone but last night was different. He was squatting in the middle of the field which is unusual as he always hangs out near the hedge. I couldn't help but slip the dog for a chase. I kind of hoped the blackie would wake up and run before the dog got it. No chance! The dog saw the rabbit and after a pretty good run she picked him up and brought him back, alive as usual for me to deal with. There are no black rabbits on my permission anymore. There is also 5 less bunnies as the dog got another 3 and I shot 2 that were heads up in the middle of the field. I love dusk in the summertime. Cheers Mat Quote Link to post
jac 12
Could be from people releasing pet rabbits in to the wild when they don't want them any more, could be breeding with the wild ones and passing on the colour, Quote Link to post
Pastie 0
Could be from people releasing pet rabbits in to the wild when they don't want them any more, could be breeding with the wild ones and passing on the colour, Could be but most likely not. Black rabbits are wild rabbits simple as that. It's very rare to find a domestic breeding with a wild. That's a slightly blunter and shorter post than usual Cheers Mat Quote Link to post
