One is on my 223 the other for a 308. You won't go wrong with the Bushnell range of scopes IMO. The 3200 Elite 4-16x40 you are looking at will be good on your Tikka and will last you as long as the gun does. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
Find another £200 ish and get a Hungarian S & B 8x56 - not the answer you're looking for but I bet loads will agree! Well I sure do! I'm afraid i agree to ! I DON'T...he says Deer and Fox Dawn to dusk, so the odds are a VERY wide distance spread, fixed mag does not do the business here at all for most shooters! It's not a criticism of the S&B, I just don't see a fixed mag is the ideal in these circumstances! Quote Link to post
Spangle 0
Personally I think a 8 X 56 Schmidt would suffice. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
if that is your budget mate then, its the budget, all i can recommend is to search the net for good and bad point on each and then make your mind up... i have nikon monarch binos for stalking, and if the scope glass is as good you won't go far wrong... ATB. Snap. Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
Right then, I went through this recently too. I can say confidently that the Nikon is better. the only reason I didn't keep the Monarch I got was that the eyebell was slightly too large to get mounted on my CZ due to interference with the bolt. Optically it was very good indeed for the money. Definitely not a Swaro or even a Leupold VX-III, but nowhere near the price either. For foxing, I would recommend over the S & B as the mag and ret at longer ranges will help out. For deer, the S & B would be my choice because it is better optically. Loses out for magnification, and likely reticle - most of them that you see have the #8 in them, plain but thick crosshair, and not ideal for the fox angle, but a deer is big enough that it doesn't matter. In any event, you will be happy with the Nikon. Probably the Bushnell, too, but I still think the Nikon edges it. Quote Link to post

martin 332
I know you have a budget, but,my advice would be to buy what you will need to do the job, and,in my opinion you should go for a bigger objective lens, and don't sweat quite so much on the magnification side of it.The ideal thing to do though is wait until you can put a better scope on the rifle, cos the resale value of those scopes isn't going to be that good,so,if you can't get a better secondhand scope(keep an eye on Guntrader and Ebay),then I would just wait...........Martin.
