Dawn B 212
Im amazed at the amount of folk on here, allegedly dog savvy that fail to recognize a sight hound. Must be because most on here have Bull crosses who of course will have bulky muscle from the Bull, or indeed the Greyhound. The native breeds, including Saluki, Afghan, Sloughi, Azawakh and the more uncommon ones like the pictured bitch, have "long, flat" muscle, designed for stamina, not short bursts of speed. cúagusgiorraà Ive only just seen this thread and must say what a lovely hound it is. I presume, like the Afghan, Sloughi etc... they have a huge range of colours and mixture of them? Quote Link to post
badger 91
No probs. These "third world" sighthounds are tough stuff, and put our western fat pooches to shame. Our western dogs aren't put to shame by dogs like yours, you have obviously never seen proper american coyote dogs in action. Speed, stamina, fighting power with feet to hold up to stone and frozen fields. Ask any of your brittish or irish brothers that have been over to New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming etc. Every one to a man I have met that has moved here has switched from longdogs and lurchers to coyote staghounds. I have killed hundreds of coyotes which are just small wolves and that pretty little dog did NOT take that wolf. EVERY coyote killed in the snow leaves a fight pattern and "blood angels" in the snow, and that wolf would have had a bloody snow pattern covering half an acre. . these are my old dogs Bonz and Driver, honest WESTERN working dogs.
