Rescued a debarked lakeland

Recommended Posts

I've rescued a lakeland bitch now five years old and she was debarked by the previous owner, I can't understand why its totally not in her nature to bark in the first place.... But what I'm wondering is this ...Did this surgery make my lakie more prone to panting cuz she does alot of it almost so much that I don't want to take her out in the car she gets so annoying. Not the way you want to feel about your dog.

I can't imagine why someone would want to do that to a dog - worker OR pet :blink: There are certainly some wankers out there :realmad: :realmad:

Hastings this will surely effect you if you decide to work the dog???

I sent one of my JRT males to the USA where the prat de barked him! Why when he didn't bark much anyway but he had it done, now all the dog does is cough like an old man whos smoked all his life! thats all he can manage for a bark.

Some de barking is done by vets & some large scale breeders de bark the dogs by shoving a pipe down the dogs throat (not sure what kind) & hit it with a hammer to rupture the dogs voice box (only heard of this happening in puppy farms mind).

Freaks the whole lot of them. Why buy a terrier whos main purpose & instinct is to use its voice.

Nothing you can do about it once done either, but i think it may be useful to do a search on the net for symptoms of de barking.

Well, the Lakeland could have been kenneled and given no attention and now Hastings has her and has made her a house dog. No need to bark anymore is there. Her panting may be do to too many snacks ? Is the dog overweight ?

i was told off a friend the op is done under local anaesthetic while you keep hold of the dog. no hurt and my friends dog was happy as Larry. im sure there was a lot of thought and circumstances before he decided. by the way he is a man who has earned the respect of many. Good luck to you all with the dogs

Well i think his respect has gone straight out of the window :diablo: How would he or anyone who approve's of this sick ritual like their voice taken away, how do we know it does'nt affect the dog phsycologicaly even if it's thought to be painless. I can't see the need for it under any circumstance  :realmad:

No real dog person would even think of doing it.

All the best
