poorly polecat booked in vets at 5

Recommended Posts

my young polecat hob has lost quite a bit of weight this last couple of days,my first thoughts was mabe he not getting his fair share of food or he got worms.

after worming him and feeding him on his own there is no change.

this morning i picked him up and his back end was wet through,as if hes been urinating over him self .after cleaning him up i sat and wached him for ten minutes.

the poor little fella was walking backwards trying to have a s*** it was obviouse this is the reason for him being wet all over.

hes booked in the vets at 5 ,so touchwood im hoiping he gona be ok (i waited a year to get the little critter)

Sounds like a possibly blockage to me... any chance they are bedded or littered on woodchip?

suggest a blockage to the vet... If he agrees this is a possiblity .. you can try a bit of petroleum jelly or a teaspoon of pumpking puree... failing the availability of either.. try hair ball removal paste you can get at the petstore.. these will grease his insides and help move a blockage along...

good luck with the hob!

hi lorelei

all the ferrets are bedded on hay and there litter area is wood shavings.

but iv aquired some new minced chicken about a week ago .this may be the culprip .when iv been looking at it seems to have bits bone in it,they wont be a problem for dogs but young ferts !!!it mabe.

the more i think about it is looking like thats the problem :wallbash: ,they been fed on rabbits up until last week.
