glass22 0
I set my snares up at 2.30pm and whent and checked them at 8:30pm and had three rabbits! Something a little odd tho, one was sat there(not really sure if it was dead or alive). But the peg was pulled out of the ground so it could really of ran off... Anyway, I've left the snares up and reset the three that had caught and will check them in the morning. Edited July 21, 2009 by glass22 Quote Link to post

glass22 0
Well it was sat there like it was alive, but the peg was out and it could of just ran off. I also kill them with a shot to the head, cause I don't know how to do that thing where you break their necks. I'm % sure it was alive. Quote Link to post
Wanna be farmer 0
The one that just sat still could have had mixie, but i'm no expert Quote Link to post
Wanna be farmer 0
Why not just pick it up any way and then grab its neck and pull. Easiest and most sufficient way mate. Quote Link to post

I don't really know how to do that, and I don't want to do it wrong and make it suffer if I don't do it right. Quote Link to post
Wanna be farmer 0
Look at some videos on youtube, but if you've snared them properly, they should be dead as soon as they run into the snare. Quote Link to post
woodga 170
NOT ALLWAYS MATE A SNARE IS NOT DESIGNED TO BREAK A RABBITS NECK ,THEY ARE DESIGNED TO ASPHIXIATE THE ANIMAL WHEN IT FIGHTS THE WIRE IF THE STAY STILL THEY ARE NEARLY ALLWAYS ALIVE UNLESS CAUGHT UP AROUND A FENCE OR SOME SUCH ENTANGLE MENT SITUATION Quote Link to post
Guest rodsmith
suggest you give up snaring until you discover how to kill a rabbit! Quote Link to post

'Fraid not mate! Fenn traps kill instantly, wires tend to hold bunnies alive, depending on how much they pull and whether they get tangled round something. Glass: practice on dead ones, hold the bunny by the back legs, other hand round the back of the neck, tip the head so it's at 90 degrees to the body, and then pull. You'll feel it go. Once mastered, it's much easier than carting an airgun about! James Quote Link to post
