gossy 3
what is the right size shot for clays?? and what is best for game....help please chee rs everyones got there own opinion on this one mate but i think it all depends on the situation, with clays i believe a shot size 8 is a popular choice as it means there are more shot in the cartridge,a clay is not strong either therefore does not need a bigger shot size. with regards to grams you may also consider something a little lighter as you will probably be firing alot of shots quickly. with regards to game you have to bear in mind what game you are shooting. a snipe wouldnt need a large shot size as it is small and the extra shot would increase the chance of hitting it. with a driven pheasant a shot more like a 30g 6 would be preferred as it gives better killing power for larger game. and then at the extreme end being a high pheasant i have known people on the shoot i keepered on use 36 gram 4s to give them the extra beef to bring down the bird. hope this helps atb gossy Quote Link to post
humperdingle 0
I use 7.5 for clay, although i'll use anything from 7 - 8 28 gram depending on if I can get a good deal. For pigeon / Bunny I use either a 5 or 6 32 gram . Again, tending to buy the cheapest at the time. Quote Link to post
landrover 6
must agree with humperdingle on the shot size ,but if a cartridge patterns well and i get consistant kills i stick with it and do not change just because i can get some cheaper Quote Link to post

zipdog 0
i like 7.5 but im a DTL shot. Anything above 7 and below 9 will do fine, dont get too hung up in it . Quote Link to post
