WAS WATCHING CLONMEL ON THE NET THE DOGS DONT SEEM TO HAVE THE PACE U WOULD EXPECT A HARE DOG TO HAVE.

DOGS R SLIPT ABOUT 30 TO 40 YDS BEHIND HARE IT LOOKS LIKE THEY TAKE FOR EVER TO GET IN AND BREAK (RUFLY 100 YDS)THE HARE.

THEN THERS THE TURNING EACH TURN THE DOGS LOOSE ABOUT 6 TO 8 LENGTHS.

IS THIS EXCEPTABLE COURCE ING OR AM I JUST NOT SEEING THE RIGHT RACES.

remember you are watching greyhounds at Clonmel not saluki based lurchers - in greyhound coursing its about pace up and scoring points for turning the hare - courses only last roughly a minute - with lurchers its about killing the hare so both pace and stamina are needed as courses can be 3-6 minutes long

at CLONMEL the emphasis is on speed due to it being a park course - at the waterloo cup you need stamina aswell due to the land the dogs were running on

Only thing that makes a good coursing dog is saluki saluki and a wee tad more saluki..........

Yep if you want to watch a slow dog bore a hare to death :whistling: :lazy: =@

I know mate, I f****n hate them too :D

I swapped my 4 salukis for a 3/4 bull x whippet, faster and much more exciting courses :hmm:

The Greyhounds used for Irish Park Coursing are 80-100lb in weight hence they are not the best at turning, Park Coursing is a test of speed and these dogs in a strait line will be as fast as they get. Open Coursing before the ban in GB was different ie the Dogs were smaller so could turn a hare better the course was judged on points ie run up, turns, go-byes ect. As time has went on in General for open coursing and park coursing the greyhounds size has increased back in the day of Master Magrath, Fullerton, Little Shoe, ect they weighed in at 54lbs , 2005 they would of been more 65-75 maybe 80lbs and as iv said up to 100lbs for park coursing.

thanks for uy comment max
