Wheaten X: Any good?

I have just been offered a 1st cross Wheaten x Grey and i wondered if they are any good.I do a bit of lamping/ferreting now and then but also i have started a race morning and i have been told that first crosses are dog shit slow.I also want one that is also makes a good pet for my small kids.Any advice will be appreciated.I @ work all day so could text me as i gotta let lad know tonight about it

HI,I KNOW A FEW THAT HAVE FIRST CROSSES OF GREYHOUND X WHEATON,THEY ARE NOT GREAT DOGS FOR RABBIT ON THE LAMP,BUT WHAT THEY LOOSE OUT ON IN ONE THING THEY EXCEL IN SOMETHING ELSE,THEN AGAIN I HAVE HEARD OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD A FIRST X OF THIS BREEDING AND THEY HAVE BEEN OUT AND OUT POT PROVIDERS,[bUT I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE,

 

AS FOR FAMILY PETS,WELL I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH LURCHERS BEING WITH KIDS,BUT IF I DID I WOULD,NT HAVE THAT PROBLEM FOR LONG.

Well cheers Bull x but he sold now.Well someone came looked @ it and said would come back @ weekend to collect it but didnt leave deposit.I was ready to pick it up tonight for asking price.Ill prob get text @ weekend saying it still there

first crosses can be a little heavy boned. and lack that extra yard. temprement wise they can be challenging. sleep on it . and if you dont think its the right dog for you dont take it . or it will just end up back on the for sale section

if he texts you saying the dog is still there,tell him you chasing a 3/4 bred greyhound wheaton,and the guy is giving you a trial and he want less money then he is asking,

good advice mate i have one and he is very head strong but cant fault the dog when working good on all quary big and small and is suprising fast like i say cant fault the cross but only my opinion

My avatar is a first x greyhound wheaton,he is useless at rabbit day or night,but he will take fox and larger game with ease,

but... absalutely nutters when it comes to fox or more!

then you get racey and headstrong not all 1st x are slow!

Breeding the first cross has its advantages,firstly they come with plenty of fire,not forgetting the winter coat and great feet compared to the bull crosses,of all the first crosses of bull greyhound i have seen,most of them have very bad feet and are always prone to injury,

i have a wheated grey bitch, She is a brillaint all rounder. It all depends i think with how they have been tort to do the jobs in the 1st place. But from exoperience i would say snap it up pal and give it a go.

i have a wheaton whippit grey in her day was a little rocket, never been really a pot filler tho, shes a tiny little thing, ideal size for rabbits, but she always preferd the bigger stuff..

looks like a little cracker dog face . they have plenty of bottle there is no denying that . but for tradisional lurcher folk or someone that enjoys a raceday. the second cross would be more suitable .

nice dog that, what you find that dog for working cover like, my bitch used to nail all sorts in cover, then a lamped alot and she doesnt do it anymore
