shepp 2,285
Is it just me or are there an unusually large number of lurchers being passed on this year? I can't remember it being so bad previously, could it be to do with the recession? Quote Link to post

Keeps 403
I'd have thought a good lurcher would come into its own in hard times - being a potfiller an all that Quote Link to post
Little fish 3
got more to to do with people trying to buy rather than make a dog, Sounds right Sir Quote Link to post
jakeuk1 0
got more to to do with people trying to buy rather than make a dog, Nail on the head If people invested the amount of time i (and a lot of people)have feeding, exercising and training my pup, they wouldnt part with dogs as easily, you cant keep a pup in a kennel for 10/11 months and expect it to be a world beater. spiderfly 111
I think it is all down to people breeding sh*t....breeding young dogs that are no good or have seen F**k all work but look nice or stupid things like that...!!! Quote Link to post

Guest fence_hopper
people ain't in it for the dogs as much these days it's more to do with making a few quid. i bet half of these dogs would end up descent if they had a good home in the first place Quote Link to post
Guest sph1979
All these arm chair hunters have the best dogs until it comes to the crunch of taking the feckers out then they cant even catch a cold. Quote Link to post
zigzag dan 784
i think its a combination of bad owners and too many litters of average dogs bred and also the obsession of breeding show types ! a young lad - with his first lurcher - a bullx - of course - was telling me he had slipped the pup - at 9mths - on a fox - even a bullx at that age doesnt want a good battle on his hands that will put him off it forever ! At a hunt show recently i heard two rossette winners arrangeing a mating with their dogs - and i know neithor of these dogs get much graft - so heres another litter of crap on the market - ive been saying for years that showing lurchers will do the breed no good in the long term. DRP 3
people ain't in it for the dogs as much these days it's more to do with making a few quid. i bet half of these dogs would end up descent if they had a good home in the first place Exactly! Nothing is achieved over night! Most of these dogs could end up decent, IF in the right hands. Even a pup with generations of good dogs behind it AND that shows excellent potential its self, can be fcuked up by people who shouldn't own them in the first place! You've either got a passion for dogs OR you don't!!! And if you don't, you don't, move on to something else that does interest you and leave the dogs alone, you won't benefit in the long run (either financially or reputation wise) and all you end up doing is messing up decent dogs and/or mating anything with anything and producing crap, which doesn't help anyone, including yourself. Right, got a bit off my chest now. Quote Link to post
Malt 379
It amazes me. There was a picture of a nice looking Bull X on here the other day, looked like it had seen plenty. But from the comments it seemed like the poor fecking dog had been through 5 or 6 pairs of hands. "I bought this off so & so.." "yeah, and he had it off my cousin.." That's right, and so & so had it before him.." Good Bull x's must be ten a penny if folk can afford to pass these dogs about like they do. What ever happened to a decent dog being worth it's weight in gold? I always thought that people didn't get rid of a decent dog.. Quote Link to post
scent 509
in my opinion a decent dog is worth its weight in gold. What makes me laugh is when any of my mates for whatever reason ,has to get rid of a dog its never advertised to be sold one of us will take it and not a penny will be exchanged. Most of the dogs on here that are sale are advertised as being great dogs and getting sold through not fault of its own.Surely if the dog was decent then one of their mates would be taking the dog in????? bullx 12
Very true in what you are saying lads,i have noticed aswell that a lot of dogs that are on sale here are mostly being sold for their mate and not their own,i know someone on here that bought a dog from the uk and got it transported to Ireland and the dog was supposed to be a all rounder and he turned out to be fcuk all use, couldnt run to warm himself,so i say lads if you buy, make sure you try them, and try them to the full.
