scope for .17hmr

Recommended Posts

hi i am a newbi to this forum and to rifle shooting(i do lots of shotgun shooting ) what would be a good mid-price scope for a .17hmr ?? the gun will be used for 100/120 yard shooting in daylight and 60/90 yard at night from a landrover i have thought something with a illuminated mill dot would be ok ! any comment would be usefull

17 hmr are pretty flat i dont think you would need a mil dot

s&b fixed 6x42 if you only going out to 120 yards i have one on my 22lr and have gone out to 120 no probs so 17 hmr will do with ease

you get good light and good field of view proberly pick one up second hand for £280 £300 dont go cheep on your glass

I bought a Bushnell Banner 3-9x50 IR from fleabay for £50.00 and I am really impressed with it for the price. OK their's no comparision to my £700 Leupold but for the money it's bloody brilliant. At the moment it's on my 17hmr but it does tend to swap around with the .22lr & the .223 depending on what quarry I'm shooting and when.

Whatever you do don't buy any of the BSA Sweet models; they're like looking through a snotty handkerchief at a full moon.

hi all, this is my first post on hl :clapper: i use a wide variety of scopes from a wide price range. i wouldnt reccomend the s&b as its more for fox/deer and fixed power is unsuitable. i have just fitted another 17hmr with a weaver scope (£400) its build quality is great and it gives me up to 24 times mag. really pleased with it so far.

i had a meopta fixed mag on hmr and went back to a 4x16x50 well i dont use it on 16 its nice to be able to go below 7 which you cant on fix mag. also be careful as fixed mag scopes have a fixed px of 100 yards. well most are set for this. to be fair they suite deer shooting better.

i would get adjustble scope but clear optics is more important then anything
