do you think it affects there working ability ?by keeping them indoors

There are no minus degrees in England. The only problem is they are shivering in the cold, but it doesn't matter in connection with their work.

i dont think it matters either way indoors or out, ive had both and not found any differance in them. the only downside of indoors is if youve had a good day out you gotta bath them to keep her indoors happy.

After a good day you anyway take a bit more care of them, don't you? ;)

My ones also live indoors.

its all good and well keeping ya dog in the house and i wont even think about relateing a dogs living quarters with the way it works but i have seen it to many times that a dog comes back worse for where and youve got kids crying there eyes out and birds screaming there heads off, my belief is that you should detract emmotional involvement from any animal that is going to be worked that could become injured or worst case senario lose its life!!! now please dont say that i dont have a bond with my dogs as i do but my bird understands the possible out comes and she understands if a pup dont make the grade it is getting moved on !! my advice is when getting a working terrier to live in the house be ready to keep hold of a dog that might not work like ya want it to beacause it has become a pet, be ready for that horrible bad flesh smell ya get if a dog has taken heavy stick and make sure wives kids girlfriend or parents are 100% aware of all possible out comes just in case!!!
