k9delboy 138
My 6 Terriers run behind my bike every night in the woods for approx 4 or 5 miles and when i get back to my car they are still wantng to run and hunt. How much exercise do you reckon they need. Some mornings i take one or two out with our foxhounds and they will cover anything between 5 to 15 miles on roadwork. Is it possible to tire these wee tykes out. During the hunting season i often let them out the quad box and they will follow me, stopping and starting all day whilst i follow hounds. i think the only way to tire them is to let them do what they were bred to do. How much exercise do your Terriers get, Del.
skycat 6,174
Mine are out bushing every day of the year, summer included if its evenings or early mornings. Winters they work the beat on a couple of shoots all day twice a week and Sundays is digging day if we're lucky to find anything to ground: with the winters so mild down here they lay out in brambles all year round nowadays. IMO people who walk a terrier to an earth on a lead won't have a fit dog if that's the only walking it does. The fitter the better for earth work: otherwise its a bit like a Formula One driver thinking he's fit just walking to his motor.
