I have an Epson, will print various sizes including A4. They have a huge range depending upon how much you want to spend.

One word of advice, never buy cheap photo paper.

MOLL.

Sorry did'nt see someone else had said that.

Also cheap ink cartriges dont seem to give as good a picture.

i have got a lexmark X1190 it does printing scanning & colour photo copying, the cartridges i buy are from the ink box, if you buy ones they have filled up them selves they will have 3 holes in the top, you can then fill them your self, if you fill your self only put a tiny bit of each colour in each hole or it will flood out.

I make cards and print tons of stuff, so use loads of ink, i find it ok to re fill the cartridges, even when printing photo quality stuff

hope this helps :)

same as ferretlove very easy to use and cheap. got mine in asda, if it go/s wrong take back & get a new one.

the reason i opted for this one was, its a 3 in one, its pretty compact & you dont have wires everywhere & i also use a lap top so could quite easily cart the lap top & printer to another house & not need a removals van.

I think the cost of ink cartridges is a rip off, i would buy a new printer first , :11:

EPSON :good:

They really are making themselves The Last Word in Printers, mate. Look to pay around the ton. They do do a Really el cheapo one ~ I picked one up for fifty quid, a year or so back. It was a fine little printer, but teeth grindingly slow! You just don't want to go there! Plus that took the old style, big, blocky cartridges. I killed it, unfortunatley, feeding it photographic card. Either too many at once. Wrong angle? Something went wrong and it jammed and died.

Good point though is that I easily found them and they told me I could whip it along to my nearest agent - just a couple of miles away! :icon_eek:That impressed me! I didn't bother though as I felt my own mishandling had caused it. Fifty quid? What the .....

Then I went out and looked for a 'proper' printer. I now have an Epson Stylus PHOTO R240. Can't fault it! Does exactly what it says on the can. Prints anything from a letter to perfect photographs. Fast as anything I've ever known or expected. It's a pleasure to work with. Cost me a hundred pounds, give or take. Got it in Dixons.

Be advised that, when buying one, the bloke should offer to sell you a USB. Take it. If I remember corectly, it's Not the usual sort of USB and you'd be spitting fire to get home and find you haven't that sort stashed away some where. I was lucky. I had one. But my god it was close! :icon_eek:

Ink? It takes the slim, seperate cartridges. I buy mine from an outfit on eBay. Absolutley fantastic service and genuine, proper Epson ink to boot. Cheap as chips. I can't remember their name right now but I'll go fetch it from My eBay and shall bring it back here. I do a LOT of Printing so I need buckets of ink, good, cheap and fast. These people I swear by :good:

Paper? Say no more: eBay / Epson Paper .....

What are you up to then, JD? Another book? ;)

don't go for epson or cannon as the cartrages dry up try lexmark or hp there good . 2 cartrages black and colour is gonna cost you at least £26 for the both so [bANNED TEXT] i do is buy the lexmark printer in argos for £20 the prints are the same quality as the rest it just does not have a scanner but the res are the same as you could tell if you looked your self, and you get both cartriges with it thats saving loads of money on cartriges and you get the printer. And also the argos cat that out at mo not the new one will tell you a different price but they have changed that in store...

oh i also know of a web site which ill get later they will exchange 2 used cartriges for 1 new cartrige ......

Well my Epson Stylus PHOTO R200 suits me just fine and it will print onto DVD/CD. When you go to "print" you can choose the quality for printing and the type/size of paper/card. Got mine from www.novatec.com for about eighty quid and refplacement cartridges from www.abitech-ink.co.uk for twenty quid. Yea I know you can get them from other sources for as little as £13.00 but they are crap, you get what you pay for imo :)

Theres hundreds of printers out there, all will do a decent job, some quicker than others, some have all the bells and whistles, scanner, copier, fax etc etc. My advice is to look beyond the gizmo's and check what ink cartridges it takes, how much they cost and how easy to get hold of. Everyone will tell you to get them off the internet, they are far cheaper - which is very true, but if your ink runs out on a friday night and your desperate to print off something doesn't matter how fast your broadband connection is you can't make em deliver any quicker without paying an extortionate overnighter carriage delivery.

My personal advice is to go for an Epsom, the build quality is good, the ink cartriges are all seperate (1 black, 1 yellow, 1 red, 1 cyan) and they ink cartridges can be bought from any PC market stall, Computer shop or PC World/ Dixons (last resort robbin b*stards) etc.

And always get the USB cable to go with it if there is not one there already, a doddle to setup.

EPSON.... :good: .... :good: .... :good: ....all the way....i've got an Epson 880 and the ink cartridges i can pick up for it are 5 colour and 5 black for £15 quid, my friend bought the Epson R 300 back last year and that is a cracking printer also, HP.... ....Lexmark.... :realmad: ....i would stay real clear of because of the cost of the cartridges....a really good paper i can reccomend is the Printasia one in the Argos catalouge which is made by ILFORD.... :good: ....and they know a thing or two about printing.
