whin 463 Posted November 25, 2006 Report Share Posted November 25, 2006 made several knives from bought blades and temperd blades from my freinds kiln and from industrail hacksaw blades ,at the moment i have a slab of walnut burl real buetiful, elm burrel , a couple of ibex horns etc a good few red deer bone pieces between the antler and head ,i made a good knife from flamed birch , i still use it for roe , i sent some ove rthe pond to a few trapper freinds i made them mostly when the foot and mouth was rife , keep me out of trouble a bit , being acarpenter it was not hard to ake handles etc but getting the right mateirals was , i used to cut burl of trees and sell them to bowl makers , i like a good knife forfishing and hunting very usefull tool Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Guest BlueRoo Posted December 3, 2006 Report Share Posted December 3, 2006 Duckwing here's one I made from the sawmill blade it siting on , roughly got it into shape with an angle grinder ,without lettin it get hot then finished off with a file an sandpaper , used some brass rivets and epoxy to attach the sambar antler grip it then blued the blade holds ts edge good an is razor sharp , those old sawmill blades should be easy to get hold off an cheap , I have made other from old file blades they hold theire edge ok but are inclinded to brake Quote Link to post Share on other sites
