Swampy 147
just been listening to the case of CalMac winning the right to sail on a Sunday to Stornaway(?) Despite the local council and residents objections on the basis that Sunday should be sacred. What do you lot think? Personally I believe that the views of the community should be adhered to and not steam rollered by the SP.......Oh CalMac is owned by the SP by the way! I also like the idea that Sunday should be a relaxing work free day where people can spend time with their families. Just MHO Regards Swampy Ninging for Sunday
Malt 379
I tend to agree mate. When I was a kid, there used to be feck all open on a Sunday round here, gave the day a different feel compared to the rest of the week, whether you were of a religious persuasion or otherwise. A lot of blokes reckon that the pubs aren't the same either on a Sunday, with the removal of Sunday hours. Everybody used to be out at the same time back then, now they just drift back and forth throughout the day. I remember Wednesday was half closing day too.

The Sunday session in the pub used to be great! a couple of hours in the pub, back home for 2:30 and Sunday roast (lamb was best) then collapse in front of the fireplace and watch an old black and white movie. Out again at around five to walk the dog and perhaps have a pint on the way home. Winter was best. life was so much simpler then....or perhaps I have grown simpler! rgsd Swampy Ninging down memory lane
roebuck220 80
Not before time it started, it gives people the choice of using the service if they wish. Nobody will be forced to use it. People who want to sit at home reading the bible can do so if they wish, without demanding no one else can come and go as they please, to lewis. At least now people can make a personal choice of what they want to do.
