Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Set up near to where i know there are several does and at least one buck .Tucked into a hedge and let it settle a bit .Got comfy on the sticks and had a call .Now then, ive seen them come in rather fast before but this was a new one on me .Only peeped twice when there was a crashing to my left and a buck came hammering through to stand ,head up and testing the wind .He was a good range from me and face on ,probably 180yds or so .On sticks im not confident of a neck shot to that range ,i know my limitations and stick to them so i waited until he was more settled and peeped again but to say peep is wrong really as i was half way through a small fiep and never got to fully depress the butalo before he was on his way.Wish it was filmed really as it was a pure adrenaline packed few seconds .This was a new buck to me and not very good either although mature .Times like these the decision has to be made swiftly as i knew he wouldnt hang about for long so i whistled loudly and as luck would have it he broadsided as he pulled up and i was on him ,shooting him through the heart at only 50 yards as by now his head was above the skyline .What a rush that was !. Apologies for the crap pic as i couldnt find either my camera or my phone first thing so i borrowed my sons phone . Quote Link to post
