Dolphin lover 0
I was driving home from bingo one night and saw a moving bag on the side of the road. I got out to check it out and there were 3 lurcher puppies in there. I've found homes for the other 2 but kept one of them because he looks like he could grow into a nice dog, i think there is quite a lot of collie in there and some grey and bull. Anyway, the problem is I've had him now for about 6 days (I think he was about 5-7 weeks old when i found him) and he is STILL urinating in the house I think it is because I am in work about 9-10 hours a day and he thinks he can get away with it because I am not there to tell him off Any tips will be much appreciated

lurchergrrl 1,441
A pup that young needs to toilet often - you're not really leaving him for that long every day are you? You can't expect him to hold it and you certainly can't expect him to know not to do it in the house if you're not there to teach him. Hate to say it but you're going to end up with a wild, destructive dog who's got no bond with you if he's left that long all the time. It's a really bad idea.

jac 12
A puppy needs to go toilet a lot. After sleep, after food, after play, and some times in between. To teach a puppy to go outside to toilet, you need to be with it all day, you need to take him outside and stay with him so you can praise him when he go's in the garden. if he go's in the house you can say NO and take him outside, but you can only do this if you catch him doing it, even a second or two later, and he wont know why you are angry, so if you leave him all day in the house then he has no choice but to go in the house, and wont understand why you are angry when you get home. all I can suggest is you build him a run outside with a dog house to sleep in, and if he is going to be outside all day on his own, a playmate would help . But remember two can be harder work
