CHRONOGRAPH

Great idea Sean mate.

I was thinking of posting an idea on here a while back, not as accurate as a chrono, more of a yardstick.

It ran along the lines of the age old, 'phonebook test' :D

Guys with chronos would test their gun, then fire at a standard yellow pages/uk phonebook. The results could then be posted.

For example:

Mr X chrono's his gun with AA field pellets, (I've used that particular brand as they seem popular!) then makes a note of the result.

Mr X then fires another pellet at the phone book from a set distance, then makes a note of the page number where the pellet ceases to leave a mark.

say the gun was at 11.5, and the last marked page was 30.

Mr Y then comes along, his gun chronos at 11, only gets to page 25.

All results would be posted on here to form a list.

Of course it would require for the benefit of the test, that all distances and pellet makes are standardised for this to be anywhere near accurate, and as far as I know, all yellow pages are the same all over the country.

What do you guys reckon?

Id be happy to chuck in for a chrono sean, even if it is only between a few members. Id rather fork out a tenner between 4/5 and know that you can trust them people rather than everyone chuck a quid in if you get me.

(edit to say im not trying to make out that anyone is untrustowrthy ;) )

The yellow pages test :icon_eek:

It's not that hard to grasp, is it? :D My old man used to be able to tell with some degree of accuracy whether or not a gun was too powerful, too weak or just right, just by counting the affected pages of a shot phonebook. ;)

Problem these days, some don't consider you a 'proper' airgunner unless you've got a PCP, bipod, a few hundred quids worth of real tree, the latest boots & can hit the wings off a gnat at 50 yards...
