beaner 0
Hi there everyone probably a question been asked a hundred times but i would like to ask what food you all feed your dogs on. My springer Alfie is now 5 months old, he was orginal on Chudleys puppy which one day he went completly off. He is now on James Wellbeloved puppy/junior and he absolutly loves it. This is the first springer i have had as before had labs as family pets. Am looking for opinions, advice, guidance. Is the food worth the money are there alternatives what do you feed yours that sort off stuff, but please lets not turn the thread into a slanging match we are all here for the same reason. rickyspringer 15
I have always had mine on beta puppy and never had a problem, Barf is great also, I have only heard good things about James Wellbeloved but i don't like the price of it to be honest, There is many good foods out there, its what suits really and what the dog does well on, i try to steer of real commercial foods ie bakers and the like, I think its full of additives and so on. Good Luck mate and hopefully you will get some better information with whatfood to go with. Regards Rs PS. Bones and Raw food will definitely be the best out there, just get the balance right and so on. Quote Link to post

v-max 2
Im another beta puppy food man with a bit barf & i use a 24% protein dog food & find that pups are hard to keep on the beta for any length of time & want the big dog food. Quote Link to post
Hannah4181 260
James Wellbeloved is a great complete food, and in my opinion worth the money. I feed raw but start puppies on 1 kibble meal of wellbeloved and 2 meals of mince/bones. Beta puppy is also a good food, you could compromise and buy the Beta, cheaper than wellbeloved and use the money you save to buy some raw food to go with it. Quote Link to post

mick20 23
Used to feed Wainwrights Puppy or Junior -24%Protien but £34 per bag. Local pet supplier asked me to try a small bag of Fellsman (no fancy packaging) as he fed his dogs this. Higher protien content at 26%. Dog likes it better than the more expensive one and only £15 for same size bag. Quote Link to post

eshielsgundogs 0
I'm glad people like Beta, but to be honest I have always found it to be too rich. I have had a number of pups fed on it by their breeders, but when they have come to me, there numbr 2's have been soft and watery. Could also be the change of owner I suppose. But I have always changed them on to Chudley, and have never had a problem. I feel chudleys has the right balance for a dog, although I am sure like all dog food it will not suit all dogs. But works for me. Ian Quote Link to post
beaner 0
Thanks to all the replys so far, popped into a local pet store today who stock james wellbeloved and they said next week they are doing another one of there own brands which is based on the james wellbeloved, it is about 10 quid a bag cheaper as it will be in clear bag so no cost for packaging, they do various own brands of working dog food other then this new one, what are general thoughts on own brands. And i do know that cheap is not always the cheapest as i work in procurement and look at costs all the time. Quote Link to post
