5th September and hopefully every saturday and/or sunday and bank holidays.

I got a few people coming out with me hopefully 2 people off this site sometime this season and I have a tutor at my old college going on a few outings with me and maybe my other half if I can persuade her to.

I've already started. I've permission on a spot of land that the farmer wants the bunnies completely removed from...there's a few about but under a lot of cover and in big sandy warrens with a lot of rocks [no digging, great, eh?] Went out yesterday to do a few warrens and ended up with a bag of ten with a good many killed under. And the albino hob decided to not show his face for five hours so he got blocked in for the night and picked up this morning.

Hard won rabbits, but its got to be done!

Anyway the main line up is:

-Polecat hob

-Dark eyed white hob

-Albino hob

Got a few others but these are my 'go to' stinkers.

I like to start when we have out first frost but i think it might be a bit earlier this year so we can get Col's new dog on a few half grown rabbits before we get fully into the winter, no new members on my team, but as Col said he has a new pup and he had the pick of the litter from my best jill with his best hob now if she turns out to be anything like her mother or father she will be awesome, can't wait!!!!!

I was out last week. It took a lot longer than during the season, due to the ferret messing on with the baby rabbits down the holes presumably. Still managed 7 fully growns and 3 half growns though in about 2/3 hours, so not too bad. There was about a dozen that bolted that were too small to be worth the trouble, so the ones that didnt go straight through the mesh were let go again. Hopefully they will be bigger when I go back.

There was also one with mixi so bad on the walk up there that i could have literally walked up to it and picked it up. Looking back i should have probably tried to dispatch it to stop it passing the mixi on.

But yeah, I'll probably start again seriously at the start of september depending on how bad the mixi hits the rabbits. That time last year every other rabbit I caught was showing signs, so hopefully it wont be too bad this year.
