RWS .22 Subsonic

Recommended Posts

i use mostly CCI subsonic, grouping is very good and i find the copper heads make them that little faster, but then again its everyone to their own.

yer i have tried CCI but they never seemed to want to eject properly from ym gun for some reason, but they were pretty fast.

Just out of interest i have been running the RWS subsonic in my cz .452 .22LR.....do many of you guys use these? i like them for grouping etc but im sure there is faster rounds out there.

When Shooting UK reviewed six 22lr subs they rated Eley tops RWS close second. Fastest was Remington but light weight meant poor penetration.

I have the same gun as you, i have tried many different rounds out in the past, including the RWS.I have always found

eley and winchester always gave the best groupings, but found magtech give good groupings and are very cheap, dont know if this is of use to you.

It's eley's for me. Why do you want them to go faster? In my experience they are pretty close to the sound barrier speed so any faster and they aren't subs anymore.

Me 2, tried most including hi velocity, nothing comes close to Eley for grouping in any rimfire I've owned. Winchester subs do a crascking job on a bunny, but the quality is so variable you never know which side of the sonic barrier they will shoot

Am I getting mixed up...CCI .22lr SUBS are LEAD 40g HP and NOT copper coated!!!

Chap...most manufacturers SUB SONIC leave the barrel within about 10-20ft sec of each other. They all try and get as close to the speed of sound as they can but stay just underneath it.

I don't understand what you are talking about, there are plenty of HIGH VELOCITY .22lr rounds, most of which are inherently inaccurate!!

I know what you are saying about getting as close as they can. I tried magtechs once. Every 5 or 6 went supersonic............ I never used them again. I must say that at 50 yards most of the brands i've tried group around the same. It's between 50 - 100 that the eley's keep the groups tight in my rifle.

Never seen the need for supersonic rounds. My HMR covers that. :clapper:

i was never happy with cci's

Me too mate .

Although i've never tried the normal lead coloured bullet from cci i did try a few boxes of the copper coloured variety .

They were absolutely dreadful . They sprayed all over the place.

I ended up p/xing the remaing few box's for the winchester subs ,

Help me out chap...how old is this ammo stock???

CCI currently ONLY make a 40g .22lr LEAD HP Subsonic (not Copper coated) and it is only available in 100 boxes, not 50. Been that way since at least 2006!!
