Hard mouthed

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Have a lurcher who is hard mouthed on rabbits, possible to cure?

Thanks

I think it comes down to each dog, you could have 2 brothers from the same. And both brought up the same way, and one can be hard mouth and the other soft mouth. Some times when dogs go from rabbits to hares [pre ban] ,some dogs will kill a hare to stop it kicking. And some do the same when they have caught alot of rabbits. If you catch just a few rabbits, [maybe] go a little softer. But once they go hard mouth, i dont think will go back :wallbash: .

not a chance on curing it lad!!

but a lad told me a few years ago to put barbed wire around a skin of a rabbit and when the dog bites it hard it will hurt him.. so he will stop biting hard on a rabbit!he said that will turn it sotmouth but i dont tink that is true!!

another lad told me to put a skin of a rabbit into a balloon and blow it up and if the dog bites it hard it pops and gives the dog a fright and he will then stop biting hard down on it!

and i no for a fact that does work because i have done it and the lad did 2 with his bullx and 3/4 greyhounds are all softmouth...he is doin tat for the last 10 15 years with the ballon but that was when they were pups... im not sure if it will work with older dogs!!..
