WILF 46,549
Just to get a bit of perspective on this, this lad is taking a bit of a slagging yet I know plenty of people who can well afford any vets bill but still begrudge paying the money or paying to have insurance.......if this story is all kosha, then it sounds like the lad made a hasty decision when feeling a little backed into a corner.......no more, no less. Learn a lesson matey, move on and forget it.........end of.
Malt 379
! Another thing I find strange is in this case they put the dog down, vets charge around £100-£200 for this; but they wouldn't "x-ray" the dog; vets charge around £30-£60 for this !! Doesn't make sense !Cheers. Seems pricey that CP mate. It's only £35 to have a dog PTS at our local vets. My brother recently had to have a lurcher put down; £120 if you dispose of the body; £190 if they do. Right rip off ! Cheers. ..and I thought our vets were expensive! Staggerz 7
summats not sitting right with me here. this guy is unemployed but cannot prove he receives any benefit, either his or partners?..can afford to run a car.?.does not think to ring any other vets to see if they would take the job on/payment plan?...pdsa putting down a dog that just needs an x ray? seems a strange series of events... i can prove im on benifits i took the paper work with me the car i have was bought when i was working i seprated from an 17 year relationship 14 months ago and lodge with my brother and his wife whom i owe 1500 pounds through him helping me out here and there i will get back on my feet but i think you are missing the point pdsa as a charity couldnt help me in my situation and the caring peoples only solution was to put the dog down what didnt need to be its my fault my girlfriend is on housing benifit i said ill give the dog to her they wouldnt let me because id brought the dog in and said it was mine what im trying to say is the pdsa wont do it if they are not getting paid and dont care about animals but money im pissed of with how they dealt with me been a genuine person fcuk fair play Dobby. In that case i think you should make a formal complaint against them as they have clearly failed to provide the service they claim to do in this instance. I'd be seeking legal advice. chartpolski 23,057
Years ago, anyone could have their pet treated at the PDSA, no "means testing". But I think with the way vets fees went sky high, the PDSA were becoming overwhelmed !! Now the criteria is that you must be in receipt of housing benifit or council tax benefit; being on the dole isn't enough ! I think this is a bad system, what if you are on the dole, but living with parents or partner ? You wouldn't qualify for these benefits, so wouldn't meet the PDSA's rules ! Another thing I find strange is in this case they put the dog down, vets charge around £100-£200 for this; but they wouldn't "x-ray" the dog; vets charge around £30-£60 for this !! Doesn't make sense !Cheers. CP i dont know what vet your using but if there is no choice but to PTS There are vets there that can help for £40-50 although imo it should be no more than £20-30 Max, the vet in question is a big "franchise" in the Newcastle area, I'll pm you the name if neccassary. The last dog I had put down was a 17 year old Saluki, in the middle east. My vet, a Scotsman, wouldn't charge me to do this, as he had looked after the dogs health all it's life The vet I was using was Hillary Ross, but she has now retired and her practice has been taken over by a vet group that I wouldn't take a diseased rat to !! So, I'm looking for a good running dog vet again ! Cheers.
Edd_Wiltshire 9
Yet again I can’t believe people post such things. If you can’t afford to have the dog fixed then don’t have one, or better still buy a f*cking stuffed animal. A one of payment and all it will need are a little bit of dusting now and again. If it were my dog and I were lumbered with a bill like this, I would beg steal or borrow the money to sort it out. That dog was your responsibility and you have shirked it. The majority of vets will take instalments, its there bread and butter a lot of the time. I bet when you go on holiday your Mrs will definitely get travel insurance with you around! Yeah he has had some stick, and rightly so. I think he should learn a lesson, dont get and more animals! Simple as.

mbrydenuk 14
if you cant manage to get money from somewhere to look after your dog then you shouldent have had it.you are the only one to blame must have been born with a fukin silver spoon in your mouth, peoples situations and circumstances change not everyones lucky enough to have enough money for every situation that arrises pompus fuker. the problem is itll be the scum that take whatever they can from the goverment do fuk all then go down to the pdsa with there pregnant staffy and they get it free. its the goverment and the greedy fukers that are more worried about a profit than the hard working humble english man that has fallen on hard times. maybe you should of painted your face or got some spurious bird pregnant youd of got help then ive work since i left school mate and paid for eveything ave got .if you have a problem with me say it to me .and why is it not his fault the dog got pts
