Guest MOLLY
Hunting or animal wise? My archillies heel is birds, i dont know why but i just cannot dispatch a bird....i know how to, just cannot bring myself to do it even if it means the bird will suffer longer. Of course it doesnt help when i have a lurcher with a bird finding nose Any injured or dying bird within a 2mile radius and he will pick it up. The one and only time i did it was a few weeks ago when he found an injured fledgling Jackdaw, after walking around the field with it wondering if i could save it, i finally did the deed...then walked all the way back home blubbing like a baby. Tonight he found a Rook, very weak, laboured breathing. Again i walked around with it and took it home. It was so weak it couldnt lift its head up, so i put it over the wall of my garden where it would be safe to die in peace. But with this heat i thought i had better give it some water 1st. I syringed 100mls into its open gasping beak then left it. A half hour later when i left for work....the rook hopped away as if there had been nothing wrong with it ....dont get me wrong, i may have only prolonged its suffering for even longer, but id like to think it may have helped it to make a recovery MOLL. Paid 935
Shoot a corvid, just can't bring myself to do it. Always like to see them about since I was a kid. My mate has no qualms though, so the ferrets still get the odd one to eat

cragman 2,770
Only recently I was asked to move a fox off some land, and did all the visits, you know, the recces and this fox was coming through the same spot every evening at about 8.30pm. Mooching about, looking for insects and mice, quite oblivious to me standing about 25 yards away. When I did turn up to sort it, I just let it walk away, right passed me and although I put the gun up to it I couldn't or didn't want to shoot it. The lambs are growing, it presented no threat and it seemed like it would be a waste to dispatch such a lovely beast. I did the same in March this year on another spot, bearing in mind that it could have been a vixen that recently cubbed or was in cub. They'll be no pardon when the time's right. Guest oldskool
nearly the same thing happened me cragman. went out for a mooch about with the rifle and was sitting in a high hedge looking over a few bunnies. i was in a day dream and wanted to watch them hop about before i picked one off for the pot. a lovely big dog fox came dandering along the hedge behind me and was mooching about himself. i couldnt shoot, it was more interesting to watch him go through his routine.
