inan 841
17 by one dog in one night doe you no your talkling to people not dreaming mate 17 hares in one night where did you run them?in your mates garden or what, stop talking brown and wake up but i like what you say it ant worth lying about 6 or 8 hares you might aswell go all the way and say 17 you joker i wouldnt lie about dogs there is no need What a sad sight.......... To me, seeing those hares lying there with that lamp next to it, gives me the same feeling if you changed the lamp to a rifle or a car.... the feeling of, what a waste. Look at all those fine hares all ambushed at night, they'd have all been excellent daytime warriors..... I'd be ashamed to tell anyone that nevermind brag about...... Strange, the dog is not in the picture, and the hares look relatively unruffled too. inan shut up you idiot i dont use guns or nets just dogs Considering the thread is expressly entitled Coursing ,and you put up a post showing hares, you say your dog lamped, Id say its you who is the idiot. Or do you think lamping is coursing? Inan have you had a dog capable of taking 17/17 lamp or day I dont lamp hares, but I have a 7 1/2 years old dog sitting on my sofa who has taken 4 out of 5 Jan hares , given fair law on the fens. Does that answer your question? would that count as 17 runs not really but well done I know several dogs that are regular catchers of hares on the lamp ,,the same dogs are very indifferent dogs on daytime hares and catch only occasionally ,and seldom when the hare is given a good slip. How many hares, run in Jan,on the fens, given fair law, do you think your dog would catch? Because that would be COURSING ,which is what this thread is supposed to be about. I think you put up a photo , expecting some reflected glory ,and it has come back to bite you in the arse. I dont lamp hares ,I find it distasteful, I dont condemn those who do, each to his own, but to compare a kill ratio of lamped hares with that of those taken in Jan/ Feb ,in daylight, given sporting slips, reveals a lack of knowledge of Hares, and , may I say ,a lack of appreciation of the wonderful spectacle that a good Jan hare given a decent slip ,and with a fit single handed dog behind it can provide. FUJI 17,187
Any dog that can take 17 hares in one night.Gets my RESPECT.atb. Catcher 1 As i said earlier i've done a bit of both, had a few different kinds of dogs over the years,1/2 x's,3/4 breds and just lurcher bitzas plus saluki x's and it is the latter i keep today ,now we can all praise or condemn SD for his taking of 17 hares on the lamp ,for what it's worth i think it's a great achievement, the dog may not of caught 4 or 5 in the day but then again how many of the day dogs that regularly do that feat could take 17 on the lamp? I'd hazard a guess and say not many if any at all? One man's meat is another man's poison...is it not? All the best PP. Quote Link to post
