moses 5
Had a call today from a woman wanting a kit so ave her the details and my address and she was here in a flash. she bought a little gill from the local pet store last week for TWENTY FIVE QUID ( i could not believe it i told here she could of had two from me for fifteen i only charge what it costs me to feed them bedding etc etc) upon asking the staff if she could have two she was told its not a good idea you wont want two ferrets running around causing chaos........WTF after reading a few books she realised that infact two is better than one and that s when she called me, goes to show why you get the odd person on here who does not have a clue when pet stores are even worse. absolutely ridiculous.... okay rant over Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
At least she did'nt pay £200 for one Quote Link to post
stubby 175
what would have worried me more, and stopped me from selling her one, was that she admitted to you on only reading a book, AFTER she had bought one from a pet store Quote Link to post
droid 11
Yes, but according to another contributor on here, it's far better to get experience than read anything about a subject.... Quote Link to post
CommanderData 0
Yes, but according to another contributor on here, it's far better to get experience than read anything about a subject.... That noo-fangled book larnin's no good to anyone. More seriously I don't think any pet shop should be selling ferrets. Edited July 7, 2009 by CommanderData Quote Link to post

ferretmaniac 5
Its terrible how people are jumping onto this band waggon of selling pricey ferrets. I would only sell my ferrets for 200 quid if i didnt want rid o them cos i know no bugger will buy them for silly prices. In my local pet shop there were ferrets for sale for 50 quid!!! DEARY ME!!! I remember last year ferrets were going for a 5er....seems its gone up a 5her to most folk. FM Quote Link to post
col g 0
they still sell them in my local pet shop for 50 quid each, then they want you to buy a cage, water bottle feeding dish saw dust and straw for bedding, not to mention their food.so in total you could well be looking at spending about 200 quid on something that some peope know very little or absolutley feck all about, and some of the advice that is given by these people has come straight out of a joke book !!! matty73 4
not just the pet shops giving people advice out of joke book theres people breeding from unworked ferrets and selling them as workers as we all know there is a difference between a ferret that merely runs through top layer of a set to one that methodically works every inch of the darkness no matter how deep to root out that last coney holding tight. not sticking up for pet shops but at least they are selling them as pets and maybe by charging that much they think people will be more likely to look after them than if they pay five pounds after all this is the disposable generation, human life is worthless to some never mind a ferret.there is far too many ferrets being bred because its the easy cheap option to get jills out of season with the nieve hope of making a few quid at the same time.i wonder where the pet shops get there ferrets from ? probably these same breeders Quote Link to post
